What would happen is my friend went to social services?

What happens if you're 16 and pregnant, live with your parents, the dad barely works (because he doesn't care), the mom can't find a job because she has hardly any experience and the daughter goes and tells her school consular? My friend doesn't know what to do about her situation. She doesn't know if going to social services will do her any good. She doesn't want her baby getting taken away from her when it is born, but social services is already going to come and check to see if she has everything the baby needs. She has just about everything expect a crib (her grandparents are going to buy it soon.) If you're wondering about the baby's father, he was in a car accident and didn't make it. My friend is trying to stay strong through all that's happening and do her best, she's graduating early so this August she will be attending college. What would happen is she talked to social services, would she get put in foster care and loose her baby? Is there anything she could do to help herself?
