Does a doctor have a duty to tell you if services are not covered by insurance?

My insurence company told me that i have a copay for sychatric services They did not tell me that the provider for phychiatric servies neede to be in network. I told the sphycologist that I had a copay and she said ok but did not tell me she was not under contract with the insuerence company. After 2 months I was told i was not covered. Does the doctor have any obligation to make sure that they are covered or a part of the network? I went biweekly for 2 months and then was told it was not covered
