Is a Triumph Spitfire a good first car?

I have been looking for a first car and came across the Spitifre after watching Wheeler Dealers. I am 17 and always liked Triumph's. I am pretty mechanically minded as I have worked on bikes, cars and tractors for years. What are they like to insure and generally how reliable are they. I don't mind having to maintain it, I would enjoy working on my car. Thanks
